DOT Medical Exam Near Me

If you are a truck driver, you need a CDL physical examination to obtain (and keep) your commercial driver’s license. This type of medical exam is also called a DOT (Department of Transportation) physical. It determines your fitness to perform your job.

Commercial driving can take a toll on your body and health. The Department of Transportation created a standardized test to keep you driving safely, for the sake of you and everyone else on the road. To prove that you meet DOT physical requirements, you have to pass your CDL exam.

Statcare’s all-inclusive Special DOT Medical Exam includes a vision and hearing check and a urine test at your DOT physical. Visit us at ANY of our New York locations in Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, or Long Island to get started! You could even get it in Statcare’s Mobile Clinic if you’re in the area.

Where Can I Get a DOT Physical Exam in the New York Area?

Not every doctor can certify your CDL physical. This kind of exam must occur at a USDOT-certified exam location by an NRCME-certified (National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners) physician. At Statcare, we know how important it is to keep your CDL medical certification up-to-date. We make sure all of our doctors are qualified to complete the CDL physical. All 8 of our Statcare locations have certified physicians on staff. They can perform the CDL medical exam and help you complete the DOT physical forms quickly and painlessly.

If you are a new commercial driver, passing the CDL physical will make you eligible to take the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles road test. This is done under the FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and USDOT guidelines.

What Does the CDL Physical Cover?

The DOT-certified physician will ensure that you’re healthy enough to perform the tasks of a commercial driver. While you don’t have to be in the very best shape, you will have to pass a few routine tests. The CDL physical test will assess your vision and hearing and require a urine sample.

The physician will also check your heart, take your blood pressure, and give you a few other tests. We won’t check you for alcohol or drugs unless your employer requires it.

Preparing for Your CDL Physical

At Statcare, we try to make the process as quick and easy as possible, because we want to get you back on the road right away. Once you pass your CDL physical, you won’t require another one for 24 months. You don’t have to worry about keeping your own records, either, because we keep all of your info on file. We will also notify you before your next exam is due, giving you plenty of time to schedule an appointment.

When you come in for your CDL physical, bring your medical records and any other health info, such as your medical history with any specialists. With this information, our physician can better understand your health concerns and help you pass the exam. If you forget any paperwork, don’t worry! We’re open 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays.
